Autumn is my favorite season. Growing up in Hawaii so I never really experienced Fall, but I remember the first time I walked through the crisp fall leaves I was mesmerized. I was in Washington D.C. for my internship on Capitol Hill and I woke up one morning, walked outside, and saw the leaves were red, orange, yellow and paused in complete awe. I was taken away with the beauty and how mother nature can take these trees through various stages. It got me in deep thought about random life lessons (stay tuned for a post on that). Anyway, ever since that moment I knew I wanted to live somewhere with four seasons and I wanted to go full fledged into the spirit of Fall. So I started creating my own traditions on what I can do during the Fall season and that is how I created the ultimate Fall bucket list.
Go Apple Picking
Ever since we went to Upstate New York I have been wanting to go apple picking so hopefully this year I can check it off my Fall bucket list.
Make Caramel Apples
So you went apply picking now make some caramel or candy apples.
Drink Apple Cider
If you still have some apples, turn it into apply cider or just get it from the store. Either way enjoy the peak apple season with this delicious drink.
Roast Marshmallows
Roast some marshmallows and assemble a little s’mores combo. Throw some mini marshmallows into your hot chocolate or if you are like me enjoy a s’mores pop tart year round haha.
Camping
Whether it is glamping, regular camping, or camping in your backyard. Get outside and go camping. It is great and while in the mountains (if that is what you choose) make sure to go on a nice crisp hike.
Bake Fall Recipes
Pumpkin bread, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin pie, just start baking pumpkin anything and enjoy the smell of spices in your home.
Outdoor Picnic
You just had a bake fest so now pack it up and enjoy those baked goods outside in a little outdoor picnic.
Decorate for the Season
I used to swear that I wouldn’t decorate for seasons, but this year I decided to give myself this little joy and decorate for the Fall season. We aren’t a big fan of Halloween so we stuck with small Fall colored pieces. It was as simple as swapping out dinner placemats, our coffee table center pieces, our couch pillow covers, and adding some decor pieces to our shelves.
Visit a Pumpkin Patch
There is just something about a corduroy skirt, brown booties, and a cute picture holding a pumpkin. It just screams fall vibes. Then you can carve or paint that pumpkin.
Carve a Pumpkin
Speaking of carving a pumpkin. This used to be a fun elementary school activity but who said you can’t do this during adulthood? I think this is a fun idea especially if you have a front porch you can put it out on display after.
Enjoy to a Fall Festival
Art, music, painting, etc. this is always a cute and fun idea to enjoy with a group of your friends.
Go trick-or-treating
Who said Halloween is only for kids? Dress up and go trick-or-treating.
Go to a Haunted House
I really enjoy this one. I am one of those people who are quite jumpy and scare semi-easily but end up laughing so this is a very fun experience for me because I am either peeing myself from being scared or crying from laughter.
Visit a Corn Maze
If you are a lover of corn or a cute photo op this is the plan for you!
Enjoy a Hay Ride
If scary isn’t your theme, tone it down with an adorable hay ride through a town nearby.
Give Thanks
Around Thanksgiving is when people start to give thanks, but this if something you can do year round.
Donate to a Food Bank
If this feeling gets infectious you can go through your pantry and start donating unused canned goods to a food bank.
Volunteer at a Soup Kitchen
You can also volunteer at a nearby soup kitchen. It is always good to give back to your community in whatever big or small way you can.
Dress for Fall
Jeans, flannels, sweaters, scarfs, etc. I love wearing brown booties specifically so that is probably the first thing I am wiping out and wearing.
Burn Fall Candles
I am obssessed with candles. Luckily Aldi has large, three wick soy candles for only $4.99. I recently got the “Fall Flannel Shirt” scent and it’s just great! Puts me in such a mood.
Curl up under a Blanket
So light that candle and curl up under a cozy blanket. Finish off with a great book or a movie.
Scary Movie Marathon
Speaking of movies, you can go into a whole scary movie marathon from OG’s like Halloween Town and Hocus Pocus.
Make a Fall Wreath
Gather some fake or real leaves and some twine to create a beautiful fall wreath that you can hang up near your door. This is such a cute and welcoming decor piece especially when you pair it with a nice little doormat.
Jump in a Pile of Leaves
Very cliche but there is something about jumping through a pile of leaves that just makes your hear smile.
Create and Listen to a Fall Playlist
I created an Apply playlist of some random fall songs. It is quite small now, but I have songs like “Autumn Leaves by Ed Sheeran”, “Sweater Weather by The Neighborhood”, “Water Under the Bridge by Adele” and a few others. If you have some suggestions please let me know!
Drink Pumpkin Spice Lattes
Pumpkin spice season this year kicked off early, but when it is peak fall season make sure to grab yourself a pumpkin spice latte and roam around through the leaves.
Make Chex Mix or Granola
This is such a delicious and fun idea especially if you are planning on watching movies. There is nothing like enjoying homemade chex mix and a scary movie.
See a Drive in Movie
You can also take your chex mix and enjoy a nice drive in movie. Don’t forget your other fall goodies!
Roast Chestnuts
This might seem more for the winter season, so do this towards the end of the Fall season with the song “chestnuts roasting on an open fire”.
Pick Acorns, Pine Cones, and Leaves
This might seem odd to some but I still have my first pine cones and fall leaf. The pine cones I used to decorate around the house and the leaf I have taped in my moleskine notebook.
There is so much beauty during this transitional season so let me know in the comments below some of your favorite fall activities. Maybe I can create a part two of the ultimate Fall bucket list. If you are curious to know when your peak fall season is check out this website.
Fantastic ideas full of fun tradition! Apple picking is something I’ve never done – but sounds fun!
Great list. I haven’t done many of the things on this this for years, especially roasting marshmallows and eating a caramel apple.
Great list I love all of these things for creating fall memories.
Love all of these ideas! My most favorite would be apple picking, donating and volunteering
