When you put love and passion into work, then success is inevitable. A statement that is evidently proven at Krikor’s Bakery in Baskinta.
If you have stepped foot into Lebanon, or read some of our food-related Lebanon posts, you would know that Manakish has been a long staple of Lebanese breakfast. If you are from Lebanon, you would know the significance of a Furn (Bakery), and the deliciousness of those pastries.
These Manakish bakeries are so common in Lebanon. You can find them at almost every other street corner. With hundreds or thousands of these bakeries planted all around the country, you would think it’s impossible for somebody to open one and stand out. Well, think again because this man has done just that! Krikor’s Bakery in Baskinta is a Lebanese Furn like no other.
Kirkor is of Armenian descent, and has been in the baking business for over 55 years. His bakery is tucked in the village of Baskinta. A 25 mile drive from Beirut, but one that is absolutely worth it as this one-of-a-kind gem will leave you with an experience like no other. He operates this small business with his wife Laure. Everything is home-grown and organic. The dough is handmade. Their secret ingredient is Love, and their creations are simply out of this world.
A personal recommendation is their Bawd Kawarma. It is the closest you will find to the delicious taste of Georgia’s Khachapuri in Lebanon.
Don’t skip this place when you are in Lebanon. This might just be the best furn you can find!
