Ever since we moved from our studio apartment, I converted from a weekly cleaning schedule to a daily cleaning schedule. This has helped in ensuring that we have a clean space, especially during these times where we are spending a lot of our time at home. It also doubles as a way to break up my work day; otherwise, I’d be glued to my table all day.
Everyday Cleaning Schedule
I consider these to be our daily chores. We work together in up-keeping at least the following within our home:
- Wash the dishes (three times a day)
- Wipe Countertops/Stove top
- Wipe tables
- Take out the Trash
- Flush the pillows
- Make the bed
- General Sweep/Vacuum (if needed)
Monday – Bathroom + Laundry Day
What that includes is cleaning the toilet boil, wiping the surfaces, scrubbing the bathtub, sweeping and swiffer-ing the ground. Once done, I take a look at the laundry pile and start separating the loads (whites, undergarments, color, and towels).
Tuesday – Living Room
This doesn’t include my daily tidying exercise of the area. What this constitutes is the dusting of the coffee table, tv console, and my husband’s work area. It also includes doing a thorough vacuum of the carpet area. At the end of it all, I take time to water our plants.
Wednesday – Kitchen
Separate from wiping the commonly used surfaces and cleaning the dishes, this includes a sweep of the floors, swiffer-ing the ground, and vacuuming our accent rugs. If I am going for a deeper clean, then I wipe down our cabinets and organize the insides.
Thursday – Bedroom
I make the bed every morning and try to tidy up after my husband and myself. So, what this includes is a vacuum and wiping down the surfaces in the room. That includes our dresser, nightstands, and my work table.
Friday – Dining Area
This is basically my gag day because I probably did all the tidying of this area throughout the week, but if I see there is a spot clean, this is the day that I tackle that.
I have found it easiest to have a cleaning schedule that tackles our space room by room instead of cleaning it all at once. I used to just clean everything on Sundays and called it “the Sunday Reset” but with life taking over, I have found it easier to carve out 15-30 minutes a day then spend hours at once.
Very thoughtful! It’s a great idea to have a general daily cleaning routine and also to focus on specific areas, on each day of the week. I’m tired of doing the dishes at different times of the day, so, I’m trying to find a good dishwasher to buy these days.
These are great tips! Wow daily cleaning! I barely clean once a week and then have our housekeeping come every 3 weeks. Thanks for the share
