In January 2021 I sat down to write out my 2021 New Years’ resolutions. Now, I am pretty realistic in setting what I want to achieve for the year; but not everything happens the way we plan. No matter how convinced we are that life will turn out a certain way, all that certainty can be waged away with a simple change in tide. So although we didn’t achieve everything we had written out, we did accomplish a lot; and I wanted to share that in a the form of reflecting on 2021.
- The first thing we accomplished that wasn’t technically on the list was the hubby getting a green card. We knew this was happening in the shadows since we were going through the process but we didn’t write it down because it’s not something we are in control of. When we finally got we were very happy!
- The next thing was again related to the hubby but we share our wins and this is one of them. In less than a year of starting his job he was promoted to senior position.
- On to my career. I wasn’t planning on switching jobs but there came a point where I knew I needed to jump ship and start specializing in a field of law. It wasn’t the most optimal timing in the middle of a global pandemic but switching jobs and specializing was one of the best career moves.
- Lastly, we got a US driver’s license which brings up one step closer to getting a car. Fortunately, we live in a place where we don’t need a car to function but it will be a blessing when we get one.
There were accomplishments that weren’t preplanned and weren’t written on that list but deserve to be acknowledged. I do also want to touch on the goals I actually accomplished on that list.
Personal
- Stretch Daily to Increase Flexibility
- Read more books (1-2 per month)
- Improve blog/Continue to write
In the personal section I set the following three goals. I definitely failed at the first one, however, we did sign up for the gym in our building which is a great step. For next year I know we can improve on this and get it accomplished if I get my mind right. I did read more books this year and if you are curious as to what I aim to read each month check them out here. The last one was improving this blog and continuing to write. I really do enjoy doing this and have definitely seen an immense improve so thank you all for the love and support you’ve shown!
Couple Goals
- Buy a car
- Armenian wedding
- Adopting a dog
I am not proud of this but unfortunately we didn’t achieve any of the items we listed. However, we always need to stay positive. As I mentioned above we got the license which is a step towards the car; and when we get the car that opens the doors to visiting shelters to adopt a dog. As for the Armenian wedding we can blame the pandemic for that one haha.
Career Goals
- Paralegal certificate
As I am writing this I finished the main part of the course which is the readings, tests, projects, and homework. I am working on the capstone which is due the end of January 2022 and then I will officially have my certificate in hand!
Reflecting on 2021, I realized I learned quite a lot from this year. I hope to take that with me into 2022. Stay tuned for what goals we are planning to set out for next year! Also, be sure to comment below either what you are Reflecting on 2021 or what goals you are setting for 2022.
