Money Heist/Casa de Papel: From flamboyant Nairobi to the ill-tempered Denver. Every single La Casa de Papel character has unique traits that have us falling in love with them. And if the list from the first two seasons wasn’t enough, season three introduces us to a new set of lovable figures. One that has caught our attention is Bogota – for the mere fact that he is of Armenian origins. So yes, the character playing Bogota in Money Heist is indeed Armenian.
Hovik Keuchkerian – born in Beirut, Lebanon to an Armenian father and a Spanish mother from the region of Navarra. At the age of three, he moved with his family to Madrid; where he grew up to become a professional boxer and two-time Spanish Heavy-Weight champion.
He has since retired from boxing, and focused his career in acting, stand-up comedy, and writing. If you are into Spanish books, then you might be interested in checking his book. As for his acting career, if you are trying to remember where you have seen him before – then the answer would be in the 2016 Action Adventure of Assassin’s Creed.
Having a similar Lebanese Armenian origin, makes Bogota my new favorite Money Heist character – and like many of my fellow Lebanese Armenians, a part of me wishes that they had chosen Beirut or Yerevan as his city name in the series.
Comment below if you are one of those Armenians that look through the credits to find an ian/yan ending!
